Antarctic preparation

I leave for Antarctica in just over a week. Today I set out all my gear to see if I have everything on the packing list and everything to keep me cozy on the journey. If you'd like to read about my trip click here and choose Classic Antarctica.

Do you believe I'll be able to fit all this into two bags? I'd better be able to.......

.......since I am hesitant to check my bags as I have so many connections and don't see myself saying "Can you please deliver these to the Ocean Nova heading south through the Drake Passage?" Nope, no sir.

Here I am in all my layers.

Hard to know if it's all just right from today's balmy 60 degree weather but I'm hoping for the best. Quark loans us big boots so that's the only piece missing from this picture.

I'm so excited I just don't know what to do with myself. Of course, November is here so fast. What the heck will this be like? Like nothing I've ever experienced, that's what.

Actually I have 3 pairs and two liners! My Mom's friend loaned me the set I'm wearing, I bought another and already had a whopping pair of mittens. We shall see!
